    Charles Darwin

eBook (Delhi Open Books, May 28, 2020)
On the Origin of Species is a work of scientific literature by Charles Darwin which is considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology. The contents of the book were severely backed by Darwinian evidence, which gave it its authenticity and is now considered a pioneering work in effect for the study of modern evolution theory. The survival of the fittest is a theory every person is familiar with, as it is often used as an expression in generic situations. Charles Darwin proposed a theory that contains his views on population size and the species in general. Some of the key features of this book are the building blocks of society. Some of these are as follows: each population size remains almost the same over time, species have to struggle in order to survive and individuals belonging to the same species differ significantly. The Origin of Species includes several examples and accounts that led to this Darwinian school of thought besides the theory itself.

  • The Origin of Species

    Charles Darwin

Paperback (Independently published, Jan. 28, 2020)
When we compare the individuals of the same variety or sub–variety of our older cultivated plants and animals, one of the first points which strikes us is, that they generally differ more from each other than do the individuals of any one species or variety in a state of nature. And if we reflect on the vast diversity of the plants and animals which have been cultivated, and which have varied during all ages under the most different climates and treatment, we are driven to conclude that this great variability is due to our domestic productions having been raised under conditions of life not so uniform as, and somewhat different from, those to which the parent species had been exposed under nature. There is, also, some probability in the view propounded by Andrew Knight, that this variability may be partly connected with excess of food. It seems clear that organic beings must be exposed during several generations to new conditions to cause any great amount of variation; and that, when the organisation has once begun to vary, it generally continues varying for many generations. No case is on record of a variable organism ceasing to vary under cultivation. Our oldest cultivated plants, such as wheat, still yield new varieties: our oldest domesticated animals are still capable of rapid improvement or modification.

  • The Origin of Species

    Charles Darwin

    Paperback (Blurb, April 6, 2019)
On the Origin of Species (or more completely, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life), published on 24 November 1859, is a work of scientific literature by Charles Darwin which is considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology. Darwin's book introduced the scientific theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection. It presented a body of evidence that the diversity of life arose by common descent through a branching pattern of evolution. Darwin included evidence that he had gathered on the Beagle expedition in the 1830s and his subsequent findings from research, correspondence, and experimentation. Various evolutionary ideas had already been proposed to explain new findings in biology. There was growing support for such ideas among dissident anatomists and the general public, but during the first half of the 19th century the English scientific establishment was closely tied to the Church of England, while science was part of natural theology. Ideas about the transmutation of species were controversial as they conflicted with the beliefs that species were unchanging parts of a designed hierarchy and that humans were unique, unrelated to other animals. The political and theological implications were intensely debated, but transmutation was not accepted by the scientific mainstream. The book was written for non-specialist readers and attracted widespread interest upon its publication. As Darwin was an eminent scientist, his findings were taken seriously and the evidence he presented generated scientific, philosophical, and religious discussion. The debate over the book contributed to the campaign by T. H. Huxley and his fellow members of the X Club to secularise science by promoting scientific naturalism.
  • The Origin of Species

    Charles Robert Darwin

Paperback (Yilin Press, March 1, 2016)
In 1830s, Darwin started a five-year voyage around the world, during which he collected and investigated a large number of animal and plant specimen as well as geological structure. Later he wrote his masterpiece the Origin of Species, through which he first proposed the theory of evolution. Based on the information he has collected in his journey, he tried to prove that the evolution of species is a result of nature and human selection.
