  • The Last Dragon

Julia Brown Wright, Julia L Wright

eBook (HieroGrapics Books LLC, Dec. 23, 2013)
In this adventurous fairy tale, a beautiful Princess and handsome Prince must face the Last of the Dragons.Everyone knows that dragons were once as common as dragonflies are now, but much more dangerous. But slowly the dragons began to disappear and became very, very rare.In long ago times in all the many kingdoms around the world it was a tradition that every well-brought-up prince was expected to kill a dragon and rescue a princess to win her hand in marriage.Because of this tradition dragons to grew fewer and fewer. At last there were no more dragons in France and no more dragons in Germany. There were no dragons to be found in Spain, or Italy, or Russia or anywhere in all the European countries. And although there were some left in China, and are still, they are cold and stony or bronzed, and stay very well hidden. The last real dragon was known to be living somewhere in England. This was a very long time ago. The last dragon lived long before what we have learned of "English History" began. The Last of the Dragons lived in Corninthwall in the one of the huge caves found amidst the red rock hills. He was a very fine and large dragon indeed. He measured seventy feet long from the tip of his fearful snout to the end of his terrible tail. He breathed fire and smoke, and rattled when he walked, because his scales were made of iron. His wings were like bat's wings, only several thousand times bigger. Now the King of Cornithwall, King Basilico, had one daughter, the very lovely and smart Princess Laverania. It was known through out the kingdom that when she turned eighteen that she would have to go and face the dragon living in the surrounding hills. But this was the Last Dragon, and Princess Lavernia really didn't want to slay the Last of the Dragons. Instead she plots a way to change history and save the Last of the Dragons. But can she devise a plan that Prince Ravenor will help her with and that King Basilico the rest of the Kingdom will accept?
