  • I See...

    Marcia Batton

    (, March 13, 2020)
I See… is a rhyming picture book which moves from the real to the absurd/nonsense (think Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll) with interactive aspects between the book and the reader.A small girl, and her cat see a number of interesting, often strange and amusing, sometimes unlikely things. At times there is direct interaction between the books characters and the reader.Illustrations support the storyline, but also include quirky aspects. In addition to creating amusement this encourages the reader to anticipate what the cat (and other characters) will be getting up to on each page and then look for those little extras. The book is simple with strong links in the illustrations to the text so suitable for early readers as well as pre-readers. As well as looking for the quirky and unusual things happening, both in the story and illustrations, the story is able to generate discussion about what is real and what is imaginary.
