  • My friend Charlie

    James Flora

Hardcover (Harcourt, Brace & World, March 15, 1964)
My Friend Charlie by Flora is a fun story book for any little boy. My brother and I loved this book in the early 1960's before the day when children had cartoons at their beck and call. We were fascinated with the illustrations. The book is about a little boy's dream and it is very creative, as dreams are. My brother's favorite picture was of a submarine stuck to the bottom of the sea by a blob of bubble gum. I wish I could remember more, but I am not old enough yet to have perfect recall of my childhood. I just remember loving this book. I bought my brother a paperback version some years ago as a surprise(we Yuppies like to recapture our magical childhoods) but I prefer the hardcover version if you can find one. ( Amazon customer)
