The Son of Tarzan is a novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, the fourth in his series of books about the title character Tarzan. It was written between January 21 and May 11, 1915, and first published in the magazine All-Story Weekly as a six-part serial from December 4, 1915 to January 8, 1916. It was first published in book form by A. C. McClurg & Co. in March 1917 and has been reprinted numerous times since by various publishers.

With the help of the ape named Akut (an ally of Tarzan in The Beasts of Tarzan), Jack soon finds his place among the great apes, as his father did before him and becomes Korak. But after rescuing the beautiful young woman named Meriem, the disaffected young man and the mistreated young woman must learn to live and love together in the dangerous jungle.

Alexis Paulvitch, one of Tarzan's enemies, wants to get even, so he draws Tarzan's son, Jack, away from London, but Jack isn't so easy to capture and kill. He escapes, and makes a home among the apes as his father did. He becomes known as Korak the Killer, and meets a lovely young woman named Meriem. Narrow escapes, fun action, and a definite sense of adventure in the wilds of Africa make this a must-read book.

This is the fourth story in the Tarzan adventure novels. This time it is the son of Tarzan, the young Lord Greystoke, who leads us away from the sheltered shores of 19th century England, back to the primitive jungle. Young Lord Greystoke quickly asserts his natural authority in the jungle the way an heir-apparent might ascend a throne but not without a few painful lessons. Accepted by his fellow primates, they rename him, Korak “the killer.” He is as powerful as he is clever. Though his transformation is successful, it is not without bloodshed.
