Alexandria Bennett is your typical, everyday outcast. Well, except for the part where she believes, wholeheartedly, in the existence of dragons. Hence the nickname, "Dragon Lady". Her life has been nothing but turmoil since the 7th grade, her classmates constantly taunting her at every turn because of her beliefs. By the time she's fifteen, she’s sure it can’t get any worse. Until a school bully backs her into a dangerous situation that gets her kicked out of school. With her mom unable to transfer from her job for another year, Alex leaves New York for Virginia to live with her estranged father and attend school in Richmond. Though the relationship between them is strained from the start, Alex finds hope in a chance to change her image at a new school, where no one knows her as the "Dragon Lady". That is, until she meets the other new kid in town and sees a carbon copy of her old self in him. Her morals and priorities at a stand-off, Alex must decide whether or not being accepted is worth the price of losing herself and the only true friend she may ever find.
