  • Into the Shadows

    Joseph E. Holeman

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, July 17, 2018)
“Into the Shadows” is a children’s illustrated book that takes you into a dark and playful world. Each page you open is a unique character with their own story to tell. By showing a world in silhouettes, anyone can identify with these characters. One of the goals in making this book was to encourage children, (and adults) to face scary things and this book is meant to be a playful way to do so. Sometimes you have to look into the darkness to find the light. Much like Pixar movies, the stories and imagery should be engaging for all family members to enjoy!

A medic crawls through the dust and smoke, giving aid where he can. He sees a body, a large shard of wood protruding from the chest. The medic tries to help the wounded man. Just as he extracts the wood, shrapnel from another mortar hit strikes him. As the medic draws his last breath, the man draws his first in three centuries. • Hidden in the Shadows

    Taylor Thorpe

    Paperback (lulu.com, Feb. 21, 2014)
These are real people brave enough to share their life stories. They do not seek pity, nor wish to make feel guilty their bullies, their parents, or anyone that has done them wrong. They all have a story to share with hopes that those who are going through the same things realize they are not alone, and that those who do not understand the thought of suicide will develop if not an understanding, then an acceptance of that that is considered not "normal." If you are experiencing some of what's happening in this book, you are not alone. If you are someone that thinks these things only happen to "crazy" people, I encourage you to open your mind and open your heart to these stories and possibly walk away from this with an understanding of what drives people to do what they do. Until now, you've lived in the light of life. Welcome to the world hidden in the shadows.
