Paperback (Independently published, June 23, 2020)
Uniting universal themes with a wonderfully personal vision of the world, Hans Christian Andersen found magic in the landscape of childhood. His talking animals and living toys shine a sparkling light on the strange wisdom of innocence and the deceptive nature of adulthood. These stories have now been adapted into countless classic films (including The Little Mermaid, The Red Shoes, and Frozen—which was based on “The Snow Queen”) and have become part of our everyday speech, such as when we talk about “ugly ducklings” and “the emperor’s new clothes.”Transcending generations, language, and nationality, these stories continue to delight and enlighten us in equal measure.

Andersen; April 2, 1805 – August 4, 1875) was a Danish author and poet. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales. Andersen's fairy tales, which have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature readers as well. Some of his most famous fairy tales include "The Little Mermaid", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Nightingale", "The Emperor's New Clothes" and many more. H. C. Andersen

Paperback (Independently published, May 19, 2020)
Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales are like exquisite jewels, drawing from us gasps of recognition and delight. Andersen created intriguing and unique characters — a tin soldier with only one leg but a big heart, a beetle nestled deep in a horse’s mane but harboring high aspirations. Each one of us at some time, has been touched by one of Andersen’s Fairy Tales. Here you’ll find his classic tales such as: The Mermaid, Thumbelina, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, and The Ugly Duckling. Many years ago, there was an Emperor, who was so excessively fond of new clothes, that he spent all his money in dress. He did not trouble himself in the least about his soldiers; nor did he care to go either to the theatre or the chase, except for the opportunities then afforded him for displaying his new clothes. He had a different suit for each hour of the day; and as of any other king or emperor, one is accustomed to say, "he is sitting in council," it was always said of him, "The Emperor is sitting in his wardrobe." Time passed merrily in the large town which was his capital; strangers arrived every day at the court. One day, two rogues, calling themselves weavers, made their appearance. They gave out that they knew how to weave stuffs of the most beautiful colors and elaborate patterns, the clothes manufactured from which should have the wonderful property of remaining invisible to everyone who was unfit for the office he held, or who was extraordinarily simple in character.

Andersen’s Fairy Tales is a collection of eighteen stories that includes such classics as "The Little Mermaid", "The Emperor’s New Clothes", "Thumbelina", and "The Princess and the Pea". The first stories were new versions of stories he heard in his childhood, which he enlivened with an original style and a gift for humor and dark pathos. He created original stories for two installments of the first volume in 1835 and a third in 1837. They sold poorly at first and achieved little recognition. He published a second collection in 1938, Fairy Tales Told For Children, which included "The Tin Soldier" and "The Wild Swans". His recognition grew with the appearance in 1845 of four translations of the fairy tales and the publication of "The Little Mermaid" in the periodical Bentley’s Miscellany. A second volume was published, Wonderful Stories for Children, later followed by A Danish Story Book and Wonderful Stories for Children.
