    L. Frank Baum changed the world of children’s fiction forever with the first of his Oz books, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. As the third book in the series, however, Ozma of Oz is held even higher than the original novel that introduced us to Dorothy and her friends. With plenty of imaginative worlds to pick from, an extensive and exciting storyline that will entertain and entrance children and adult readers alike, and the renewed appearance of all the best characters in the first two books, Ozma of Oz promises to be a truly engaging and enjoyable fairy tale adventure. After the stress that Uncle Henry had to endure while rebuilding the house lost during the cyclone that brought Dorothy to Oz the first time around, he simply had to take an extended holiday. Boarding a steamship to Australia with Dorothy, while Toto and Aunt Em stayed behind in Kansas seemed to be a very good idea at first. However, when a powerful Pacific storm hit the steamship, Dorothy was soon separated from her uncle once more, and ended up on the empty sea, saved by a chicken coop that was floating nearby. Soon enough she found herself in the magical land of Ev, where together with her new friend – a hen called Billina – she embarks on a brand new adventure that has her face the head-exchanging Princess Langwidere, only to later embark on a rescue mission together with Princess Ozma and her Royal Court of Oz.Ozma of Oz is a long and exciting adventure story filled with magic, mystery and danger. While children will be delighted to meet new characters such as the delightful Ozma – the rightful ruler of Oz – or Tik-Tok, older readers will find the story to be quite exciting as well, and the complexity of the characters or the exciting and unexpected plot twists will be suitable, as well as highly enjoyable, for people of all ages.

Paperback (Throne Classics, June 11, 2019)
Ozma of Oz: A Record of Her Adventures with Dorothy Gale of Kansas, Billina the Yellow Hen, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, Tik-Tok, the Cowardly Lion and the Hungry Tiger; Besides Other Good People Too Numerous to Mention Faithfully Recorded Herein published on July 30, 1907, was the third book of L. Frank Baum's Oz series. It was the first in which Baum was clearly intending a series of Oz books. It is the first Oz book where the majority of the action takes place outside of the Land of Oz. Only the final two chapters take place in Oz itself. This reflects a subtle change in theme: in the first book, Oz is the dangerous land through which Dorothy must win her way back to Kansas; in the third, Oz is the end and aim of the book. Dorothy's desire to return home is not as desperate as in the first book, and it is her uncle's need for her rather than hers for him that makes her return.
