From her descriptions stories were built so she could share her experiences when she lived with her grandmother in central Alberta. When Verna was very young her grandfather became ill. When her parents separated Verna’s grandmother played a crucial role in Verna’s upbringing. While the content of the story is based on real life memories, the characters, context and images are fictional representations.
