This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. Jackson Merriweather is awakened in the middle of his winter nap by a loud knocking on his door. Scrabbit is the unexpected intruder and he's there on an important emergency mission for Pumpernickel, the elf king. A Raven brings a secret message to Scrabbit from Claire the spirit who dwells in the Garden of the Moon where she guards the Pearls of Wisdom. Scrabbit and Jackson set out on a journey to the Garden where Claire opens the secret door to Elvenwood the underground kingdom of the elves. They meet with Pumpernickel who sends them on an adventure to capture a Shadow and deliver a Pearl of Wisdom to Joey.
