  • Edward the Magnificent

    Jimmy Wilson

Paperback (Christian Faith Publishing, Inc., Aug. 27, 2016)
Edward the Magnificent, as he liked to call himself, is a cool kid. Well, I don't know about the cool part, but he was a kid, to say the least. Spoiled to no end by his overly protective mother. Always getting his way, ready to burst into some kind of crying episode at any time. Never wanting any photographs made of himself because we all knew what would happen if someone took one. You guessed it! He cried and he cried. How can any one boy do so much crying! We all couldn't figure out how he had so much success building and creating when all he ever did was cry! Whatever the reason for his weird ways and excessive crying, Edward was able to do more stuff in his childhood than most adults five times his age! His love for food would make anyone think he was an obese kid but not Edward, thin as a stick, a stick with no bark to be exact. Edward and Alex were always up to doing good, but not the Yanklesnack bunch. Always into mischief, never really hurting anyone but mischief just the same. All the distant relatives of Edward, like the Yanklesnacks were always on the verge of doing good like Edward but not all the way. All this creative imagination that Edward possesses, who knows where it came from. It could have been his red hair that made it possible, although it could have been those special ears too! Some might guess there was a little something in those pizza freckles of his. No matter where it came from, God had something special for this young boy to say and do. No matter if you have a sense of humor or not, you have to laugh at this young red-headed, freckle-faced, big-eared kid, ready to go on an adventure at a moment's notice. We can all wonder what Edward is up to. All we can say is, "Where are you going next, Edward? Where are you going next?"

  • The Magnificent Sevens

    Frank Worrall

    (John Blake, May 28, 2008)
In this authoritative and fascinating book, Frank Worrall takes a look behind the facts and fiction of the five men who have worn the number seven shirt with the most distinction. With the help of players, journalists, and a psychologist, he analyzes what made Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham, and Ronaldo tick, and assesses their credentials for a permanent place in the Old Trafford hall of fame. He looks at how 10 years after the tragedy, Best finally ripped away the cobwebs of Munich by winning the European Cup almost single-handedly for United; how Robson battled manfully to lift United at a time when they were mired in mediocrity; how Cantona turned the club back into winners after that long, dismal spell in the wilderness; how Beckham's stardust led to the end of Sir Alex Ferguson's personal holy grail with that audacious European Cup win in 1999; and how Ronaldo has offered hope and glitter to a United in transition. This is the full, no-holds-barred story of Manchester Uni
  • Mia the Magnificent

    Eileen Boggess

Paperback (Bancroft Press, May 9, 2011)
Mia Fullerton has entered her freshman year at St. Hilary’s with a goal: to lose her nickname, "Mia the Meek," and soar into a confident high school career. Unfortunately, her transformation is made harder by her English-teacher mom, bratty little brother, already popular nemesis, and new neighbor. Although she’s prepared herself for the battle by reading Excruciatingly Shy: How to Defeat Public Fear and Become Popular, her freshman year remains a series of uphill battles. The week before school starts, Mia first encounters Tim―the handsome yet seemingly arrogant oldest son of the new family next door. Their relationship develops based on competition―from literature to the basketball court―and Mia’s got her work cut out for her. In Mia, author Eileen Boggess has created the best kind of modern female role model―the kind who sees most of her flaws and wants to change them; one who’s not only intelligent but athletic; and one who’s trying to find her way through a very awkward time in life. In telling her story, Mia proves to be a witty, quick, candid, and interesting fourteen-year-old.
