  • Kids' Day

    Deborah Greenspan

language (Llumina Press, May 9, 2011)
Ever wish the world was an easier place? When Diana gets her wish, it is! It’s Kids’ Day from coast to coast. Anything goes, and no one knows what will happen next. Will teenage bullies take over the world? Or will Diana and her brothers save it?While camping in the mountains with her parents and three brothers, DIANA gets sick of being asked to help out by her workaholic parents, and escapes into the woods where she meets FLORA, the Roman Goddess, who grants her wish that adults stop working and start playing. At first it’s great! MOM and DAD are off their cell phones and totally involved with Diana and her brothers, ERIC, BOBBY and TEDDY. Diana and the boys find the TEACHERS in the school crawling on the floor playing cat and mouse with the kids, building walls out of books, and collecting candy for tolls, and when they go to the video store, they discover that the green stuff is just play money! Their first inkling that all is not perfect occurs when people start fighting over toys and ice cream in the mall, but they get their share, so why worry? Bobby, Diana’s teenage brother, suggests a trip to the supermarket where they are attacked by teenager, RIDLEY JONES, and his GANG on the way out. After a wild car chase through the neighborhood, the kids end up back home with the groceries. At night, the lights go out, and kids, parents, and neighbors have a great cookout under the stars, and decide to camp out on the lawn. But when it starts to rain in the early hours of the morning and the water no longer works in the house, the kids begin to suspect that kids’ day is about more than just fun. And when PENNY, the girl next door, tells them that her GRANDMA is sick, they go to the hospital and find out just how out of control things really are. Diana, her brothers, and Penny decide that adults really do have to work. But having Diana's wish rescinded isn't as easy as having it granted. Ridley’s gang is after them, threatening Diana and her group as they head back to the mountains to set things right. After a wild chase, heroics all around, and a horseback ride through the mountains, Diana seeks out the goddess, Flora, and things return to normal. Well, almost. Workaholic Mom may have learned a little something too.
  • Mommy and Me Go to Swimming Lessons

    Angela A. Kear

Paperback (Llumina Press, Aug. 31, 2016)
An infant can drown in as little as an inch of water in less than thirty seconds. A bathtub, toilet, bucket, swimming pool, hot tub, or any other container can be dangerous, and water safety should never be taken lightly. It's imperative never to leave a child unsupervised near water, and because child drowning is preventable with a long term commitment to swimming lessons, it's equally important to make sure your child can swim. The ability to swim is one of the best life skills you can give your child, and the sooner you do it, the safer your child will be. Statistics show that when water skills and comfort in the water are introduced early, children are less likely to develop a fear of swimming. Since a child’s fear of water might prevent future attempts at learning the necessary water skills, it's important to start early and be safe. Mommy and Me Go to Swimming Lessons is a must-read guide book before starting swimming lessons with your child. Written through a child’s eyes, it helps introduce parents and children to swimming lessons and encourages them to feel comfortable and excited about going. Your child will be asked to learn all of the water skills introduced in this book at their own swimming lessons. This is an easy, fun book that your child will want to read over and over again, even after they have started learning to swim. About the Author: Angela A. Kear is the mother of a daughter named Adriana. She wrote this story from her personal experiences with her daughter at swimming lessons. She believes there is a HUGH need for a book that helps prepare parents and children for swimming lessons and encourages them to feel at ease and energized about going. Mrs. Kear is the bestselling author of a wedding planning book titled, The Busy Brides Bible for Planning a Fabulous Wedding Without the Expensive Cost of a Wedding Planner. She is originally from Buffalo, New York and currently lives in Columbia, South Carolina as a freelance writer. A magna cum laude graduate from The State University of New York College at Buffalo, she also works as a visual merchandiser for a top name brand clothing line.
  • Tally-Ho Green

    Warren P. Weitzel

Paperback (Llumina Press, May 2, 2011)
Them’s bullets! I thought to myself. And I kept running. When I reached a clump of trees I took cover immediately and started shaking all over. Those bastards are shooting at me and trying to kill me! What seemed like a minute of fear was probably only a few seconds, and then it kicked in. I instinctively raised my M-16 and fired away, emptying the twenty-round clip. Bullets were zinging through the air all over the place. This…was combat! In 1966, the son of a mild-mannered ex-Marine sharpshooter was a manager at an amusement park in San Jose, CA. Warren Weitzel received his invitation from the government to participate in the ongoing conflict in Vietnam. The Army wasn’t what he was expecting, but Weitzel manages to combine his life training with the Army’s training, and survived for a year “in country”. And so here are his observations, good and bad, as a sergeant in a combat platoon.
