The animals in the magical cavern receive voices by doing good deeds. The main characters were developed in the book Outside My Window by Fannies Girl. This is the a pen name of the author. In the Duncan series the reader begins to learn about how Duncan meets these and befriends these characters as they help him find his way home. After that Duncan is always called upon by The Wiz-ard with the magical words, Talkatoo One, Talkatoo Two, Talkatoo Three to help the animals in Talkatoo, which Duncna is always eager, ready, willing and able to do. Duncan is called upon on quick notice by The Wizard and is always ready to respond. Duncan eventually learns that he descends from a family of Wizards. Duncan s experiences take him to exotic and unknown places where he meets animals of all species. He develops long standing relationships and learns how to get himself out of difficult situation by speaking with the characters who cause problems. With these new friends, together with kindness and intelligence he finds ways to improve the lives of animals in need. These stories instill interest in good deeds, hobbies, volunteer work, and group and team building in children. The benefits and results of reading about Duncan and his travels create a learning experience. Some of his trips include Coober Pedy an outpost in Australia, Damanhur, Italy and many other mysterious places. The assortment of friends all of different species that he meets broadens the intelligence of the reader. Duncan s relationship with animals and the tenderness that develops in the stories between an alligator, a bird, and a cat show love, respect, and admiration. The anticipation of Duncan s success brings exciting moments. Sequels to Duncan and Talkatoo Cavern describe his trips to retrieve the answers for his Book of Knowledge. Each book, each story is a part of the riddle, a piece of the puzzle that Duncan is always wishing for and can eventually.
