The Tin Woodman of Oz: The Tin Man and the Scarecrow are regaling each other with tales of past adventures in the Tin Man's castle in the Winkie Country when a Gillikin boy named Woot wanders into their presence. After he is fed and rested (which the Tin Woodman and the Scarecrow, not being of blood and flesh, do not need), Woot asks the Tin Man how he became made of tin. The Tin Man tells Woot the story of how he had once been a flesh-and-blood woodman in love with a maiden named Nimmie Aimee. Woot suggests that since the Tin Man now has a kind and loving heart, it is his duty to find Nimmie Aimee and make her Empress of the Winkies. The Scarecrow agrees, so the three set off to search for the girl. Will they find her, and if they do will she still love the Tin Man? This lavishly illustrated edition has more than one hundred illustrations by John R. Neill.

This Canadian edition is, identical with the American first state except for the imprint of the Copp, Clark Co., Limited, of Toronto on the title page and spine. With 8 if 12 color plates (4 plates missing) by John R. Neill without captions. There are numerous black & white drawings by John R. Neill. Giften inscription to owner on Page 11. Some drawing or coloring by owner on black and white plates. There is wear to all color plates. Please note book condition is poor. Book is eminently readable. No pages appear to be missing. There is a 9x6?, red cloth, pictorial cover label (3" by 2" of which are rubbed off l; black & white pictorial endpapers.As with the American first state, the publisher's advertisement on the verso of the ownership leaf lists eleven titles, the last being The Tin Woodman of Oz.

Frank Baum and was originally published on May 13, 1918. The Tin Woodman is reunited with his Munchkin sweetheart Nimmie Amee from the days when he was flesh and blood. This was a back-story from Baum's 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
