    (Independently published, April 17, 2020)
MANY of these stories of field life were written for the little ones of my kindergarten, and they gave so much pleasure, and aroused such a new interest in "the meadow people," that it has seemed wise to collect and add to the original number and send them out to a larger circle of boys and girls. All mothers and teachers hear the cry for "just one more," and find that there are times when the bewitching tales of animals, fairies, and "really truly" children are all exhausted, and tired imagination will not supply another. In selecting the tiny creatures of field and garden for the characters in this book, I have remembered with pleasure the way in which my loyal pupils befriended stray crickets and grasshoppers, their intense appreciation of the new realm of fancy and observation, and the eagerness and attention with which they sought Mother Nature, the most wonderful and tireless of all story-tellers.

    MP3 CD (IDB Productions, July 6, 2016)
This book is one of the readers' favorites of the series written by author Clara Dillingham Pierson and dedicated to children older than 5 years. Just like her other books that present little forest people, night people, farmyard people etc., “Among the Meadow People” tells various stories from the perspective of little animals populating different corners of the earth (fields and meadows, in this case). All the stories are delightful and introduce the animals to young children, who can learn many things about them; they tell about all kind of little critters doing their daily activities, experiencing different incidents, interactions and extraordinary things that make these stories not just educational but also very captivating. They are realistic, and the animals are presented very accurately; the little readers get to know how they look, where they live and learn about the characteristics of their life. The critters talk, but this is just to transmit the message more easily to the children; otherwise, they are presented as they would be in nature. They do not live in houses, wear clothes etc. These stories can be used anytime for creative projects such as starting a nature book.Today, this sweet book is still able to protect and develop small children's imagination, allowing them to learn through story."Among the Meadow People” includes 28 tales that follow the lives of butterflies, robins, a selfish caterpillar, a snail, a little spider who draws its first web, crickets, earthworms, a gossiping fly, a green frog, a grasshopper, the beetle who did not like caterpillars, and much more tiny creatures of fields and gardens, each one with its story that teaches a moral lesson in a gentle way.Clara Dillingham Pierson used to say that Mother Nature is the most wonderful of all story-tellers – and she was so right!
