Jess Aaron's goal was to be fastest runner in his fifth grade class, but Leslie Burke, a new kid, becomes the fastest runner in class. Eventually Jess and Leslie become good friends. Together the two created an imaginary kingdom, Terabithia. There they reign as king and queen. Then one morning a tragedy occurred and it only when Jess is able to come to grips with the tragedy does he finally understand the strength and courage Leslie has given him.
