William Goes to the Zoo
Marc Gawley, Izzy Bean
Board book
(Individualized Baby Books, Jan. 1, 2014)
This board book puts William in the heart of the story. Whether William is your son, grandson, nephew or a family friend, he will love this book. William will see his name in the story interacting with the zoo animals on four of the pages, plus twice in pictures with his mother, though the way the book is illustrated his face is obscured, so he can recognize himself regardless of skin/hair color etc. This book has bright colors and lots of opportunities for interaction, and has been especially written with the help of a language expert. Learning activities incorporated into the book include: * Animal identification and naming - can you see a monkey? * Mimicking of animal sounds - what noise does an owl make? * Counting - how many lions can you see? * Letting your child 'lead' the reading - what can you see on this page? A portion of the profits from this book are donated to the Honeypot Children's Charity. Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support.
