Watty Piper, Lois Lenski, Mable C. Bragg

Unknown Binding (Platt & Munk Co., Inc., )
By far the most familiar telling of the tale of the Little Engine first appeared in 1930. Published by Platt & Munk, it was "retold" by Watty Piper and illustrated by Lois Lenski. Someone named "Watty Piper" never existed; it is a pseudonym for Arnold Munk of Platt & Munk and was used on numerous other children's books published by the firm. The frontispiece and title of this edition included the statement "from the Pony Engine by Mabel C. Bragg, copyrighted George H. Doran and Co." and a notice of trademark for the title in later printings.

Paperback (Brolly Books, Oct. 1, 2020)
A beautifully illustrated edition of this classic children's song that introduces children to the power of friendship, the importance of helping others and working together, and perhaps most important of all, self-belief ('… I think I can . . . I know I can . . . I think I can . . . I know I can . . .') . Children's rhymes have been used for centuries to introduce children to literacy and numeracy and to teach simple lessons and routines. Children will love singing this song, learning about losing things and finding things, and making all the delightful 'meow' sounds.
