“Butterflies” is a beautiful rhyme teaching children the stages of a butterfly unfolding in full color. My inspiration to write this little rhyme came from watching a butterfly while drinking my morning coffee. My lifelong passion for horticulture and art inspired “The Little Gardeners” series for children ages 4-10. Each book delivers a lesson or message, and a journey that children can learn from. In this series, I have endeavored to captivate and entertain the adult reader, as well as the child listener. The characters are among those I have encountered in my gardens, those I have had as pets over many years, and some are merely imaginary.

    Wendy Einstein

Paperback (Partners Publishing, April 1, 2018)
There are about 24,000 species of butterflies and 140,000 species of moths in the world. They exist on every continent except Antarctica. A butterfly starts out as an egg, grows into a caterpillar, then it builds a cocoon of silk threads and after a time emerges as a beautiful butterfly. They sip the nectar from plants and help to pollinate while they sip. In the fall, Monarch butterflies fly south from the Great Lakes region to the Gulf of Mexico, over 2,000 miles away, and return in the spring to lay their eggs.

The newest additions to the long-running and highly-respected Our Wild World series cover two fascinating, but very different, winged creatures! Outstanding nature photography and thorough information combine to make this a perfect purchase for the most curious readers! Bats and butterflies are common subjects in classrooms. Butterflies are perennially popular (their exotic beauty and the interesting process of metamorphosis), and the mystery and lore surrounding bats fascinates many. These books focus on commonalities among species, as well as interesting differences among the wide range of species in each group. Bats also addresses the rumors and negative information about bats, by debunking myths and giving the real story (which is more fascinating than the fiction!). Websites and index give added information and help navigate.
