  • Zachariah and The Poppy Lady: A Story About Memorial Day

    Ellen Everly

language (Xulon Press, Aug. 31, 2016)
Zachariah and the Poppy Lady is an original story, written by Ellen B. Everly, second grade teacher, for her students. The story was inspired by the need for stories to help young children understand the significance of this day off from school and by a letter to the editor about a man selling poppies. Poppies are made by veterans and sold by the American Legion Auxiliary to help pay hospital and other medical costs for veterans. “The auxiliary memorial poppy is a blood-red emblem of the battles Americans fought for God and country, miracles purveyed, and lives lost. This small flower looms large as a reminder of the sacrifices our nation’s veterans have made and continues to make for our country. 1 “The poppy has become a symbol of honor and respect for military service-past and present.”This book is dedicated to all men and women who have fought to give us the freedoms we enjoy in this country 1 Poppy/Public Relations Campaign 2005, American Legion Auxiliary National News, page 28

  • UNLIKELY WARRIOR: MEMOIRS OF A VIETNAM COMBAT MEDIC

    C. Michael Dingman

eBook (Xulon Press, March 23, 2014)
As a child I was anything but brave. I was a fearful child, not confident at all; a follower, not a leader. I was small for my age, a fair-skinned tow-head; the third of four children born into a family of modest means. So begins the journey of C. Michael Dingman from conflict-avoiding child and teen to multiple-medal decorated combat medic to devoted minister. Unlikely Warrior is an achingly honest testimony of a decent boy becoming a good man, trusting his God and doing his best to do the right thing while covered in mud and blood and ducking volleys of enemy fire. I had to make a choice between peace and honor, and I had chosen honor. A perfect sentence and a perfect statement of theme. Dingman includes, realistically, moments of levity amidst the horror of war; this is entirely appropriate, as unremitting terror simply cannot be borne. The most effective journeys of the heart encompass the whole spectrum of human emotion.Dingman’s language is fresh, his sense of story exquisite and his powerful faith palpable and moving. Unlikely Warrior bears all the marks of an enduring work.I left home just a boy…pretending to be a soldier. Now I was coming home a man who had come face to face with the realities of war and survived. I had been forced to choose between my decision not to carry a weapon and my responsibility as a medic to care for and protect those who might not be able to protect themselves. I had faced my fears and overcome them relying on my faith in Christ and His promise to be with me always.

  • The Christmas Pig A Story of Real Christmas

G.T. Blackburn, Lois Babb, Temperance B. Parker

Hardcover (Xulon Press, May 22, 2015)
When Della, a homesick cow from Delaware, complains to Grace Pig about not having snow for Christmas at her new home in North Carolina, she finds out what Real Christmas is all about and in the process, she and her new barnyard friends have the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, the farm animals encounter a blues-singing Mule; a couple named Mary and Joseph who are about to have a baby in an old shed near the barn; Gnarly Possum, the leader of the Dismal Swamp Gang; and Grace Pig’s wise old mentor and friend, A. Owl. These and other memorable animal characters are wonderfully brought to life in 23 full-color paintings by Lois Virginia Babb in the pages of this classic illustrated family Christmas book that is destined to be read aloud in countless homes each Christmas Season. As J. I. Packer writes in his FOREWORD, The Christmas Pig “is a fable for all children whose imaginations let them enjoy talking animals, and for all grown-ups who have not grown too stuffy to do the same….The story is great fun, it’s gorgeously illustrated, and the after taste it leaves is as sweet as it is serious; for the new story beams light on an old story which has been described as the best story that was ever heard, and indeed, the only real story that has ever been.” In telling the story of the first Christmas -- and what happens afterwards -- this unusual Christmas book both entertains and informs. The Christmas Pig is not just a children’s book, as Dr. Packer has pointed out. It is an illustrated Christian animal story for children and adults of all ages, from nine years old to ninety. With its cast of unforgettable animal characters, it is especially suited for parents and grandparents who enjoy reading a Christmas story to children at holiday gatherings. The Christmas Pig: A Story of Real Christmas is Christian fiction that can be enjoyed by all readers during the Christmas Season, making it an ideal gift to be treasured by family and friends alike.

  • The Time Was At Hand

    Robert Finley

eBook (Xulon Press, Feb. 8, 2012)
The Book of Revelation was written in 66 A.D. to reveal that the time had come for the fulfillment of Christ's prophecies regarding His judgement upon those who condemned Him to death. He had delayed it for 36 years while He called out to elect remnant of 144,000 Hebrews to give the gospel to other nations. The He unleashed the GREAT TRIBULATION upon 3,500,000 Judaeans who were trapped inside the walls of Jerusalem for 3 1/2 years until it was destroyed. No further "tribulation period" is mentioned in Scripture. The Antichrist, Muhammed, came in the Seventh Century. He was not "against Christ," but rather took the place of Christ, as an "anti-climax" replaces a climax. Muhammed's cumulative influence over 13 centuries has been a thousand times greater than all other antichrists put together: past, present and future. The first beast of Revelation 13 was the Roman Empire. It was "wounded unto death" by barbarian invaders, then revived by the second beast (the papal dynasty) in 800 A.D. as the Holy Roman Empire. When asked for a sign of his second coming, Christ said, "The gospel must first be published among all nations" (Mark 13:10). He will return when He has a witness for His name among all of the 7000 tribes and nations on earth.
  • The Adventures of Jeremiah the Squirrel!

    Alissa Bailey

Paperback (Xulon Press, Jan. 27, 2020)
This is a follow up from my book Jeremiah the Squirrel (2017). I have always enjoyed writing and with the events that happen in my life and in the world I have made into short children's stories. I have always had a heart for kids and for writing. I believe that kids learn at a young age. And what better way than to write it with a illustrated story. I would like to get the word out there, that there is more important things in this world that video games and what the world sees from the outside. This world is only temporary and God has plans for everyone in this world. Jeremiah is a little squirrel that learns firsthand about some on the most important things in life. All these stories have morals and stories behind the story. I wrote the "Jeremiah's trip to the big city!" after a local police officer got killed in the line of duty. I wrote "Jeremiah meets firefighters Greg and Rick!" after we lost our cousin that was a firefighter. I wrote "Jeremiah and the foxes learn to pray!" after someone at our church testified that they were healed from cancer by the power of prayer. I wrote "Jeremiah's "What is love story?" after a song was released called Reckless Love by Cory Asbury I wrote "Jeremiah gets a brother" after I had my second child. Thank you for your time you take to read my stories, enjoy!!

Using life experiences and lessons from the book of Proverbs, Scott emphasizes the need for Christian values in the home, admirable role models and inspiring children to see that challenges bring life lessons. Scott credits his father as a role model for him becoming a Christian father and husband, while educating parents/adults on what true success for a child, and an adult, should be. Leaning on Proverbs 22:6, if we train a child the right way, he/she will never stray.
