  • The Mystery of the Hidden Bridge

    David Scheer

eBook (Lighthouse Publishing, Feb. 16, 2019)
The story of “The Mystery of the Hidden Bridge” is a short allegory of how people can get to Heaven and will hold the attention of young children (and probably some adults). There are four main characters - three young, great athletes and a wise old man who is ignored by most, but not all. The salvation message from the Bible becomes clear near the end. The story may raise questions, but many answers are revealed in the form of footnotes along the way and the content of the later chapters. There is also an innovative option posed to parents about how to read the story in order to enhance child interest. It is a great tool to use and pass on to others when children grow older. It’s a nice gift idea to those with children as well. Kids will begin to understand who Jesus is and why He is the Door to eternal life. The story ends with “The Big Question.”Author Dave Scheer is a retired school teacher who fell in love with Jesus Christ in 1970 and has spoken to many people of all ages about the greatness of God in interesting ways peppered with a bit of humor at times. His website and complete bio can be found at scripturethoughts.com
  • Grandma's Garden

    A Mott

language (Lighthouse Publishing, Dec. 19, 2016)
Grandma was a woman of faith—a woman who loved talking to God every day. Being outside, surrounded by God’s creation, made Grandma feel especially near to God. She knew all His works reflected His glory. So when Grandma moved into a brand new house, she knew she had a problem. Her yard was bare of all living things. None of God’s handiwork could be seen anywhere. Not a shrub, not a tree, not a flower, and certainly no birds or wildlife were around. Thus began Grandma’s new journey with Creator God. She told God how much she wanted to be in the middle of all His living art. God heard Grandma, and together they worked towards the solution for Grandma’s problem.
  • If Rocks Could Speak

    Holly Smalley , Kevin Collier

eBook (Lighthouse Publishing, Nov. 9, 2011)
If rocks could speak, what would they tell us? What could rocks from Bible times let us know about the things they saw and heard — from creation to the time of Jesus? Jesus said that if His disciples kept quiet, the rocks would cry out instead. Yes, rocks could take our place and praise God; but God made us to praise Him, and we can do an even better job. A beautifully illustrated book that enhances the words set in poetry, showing what might happen if all people — men, women, boys and girls — stopped praising God, and the rocks did indeed take our place. Holly Smalley tells the rocks’ stories, and Kevin Collier shows us what they saw. A book to treasure and remember forever.
  • Wiggles the Worm

    Michael Acresti

eBook (Lighthouse Publishing, Dec. 25, 2016)
Wiggles is an adventurous little worm who has a sense that there is more to life beyond the dark tunnels that he calls home. Despite the caution that he receives from the old “wise” worms that play it safe in the shadows on sunny days, he is determined to leave his comfort zone and take a leap of faith into the broad daylight. Factually speaking this is a dangerous endeavor for a real worm as darkness lets them avoid being dried out by the sun. If their skin dries out, they can no longer breathe. Light paralyzes them if they're in it more than an hour. Then they can't move back to the safety of the soil. The symbolism in this story adds an interesting connection between worms and our sinful nature. Here’s the key to symbolism: light=truth, rain=blessings, dirt=sin, shadows=place of fear, dark tunnels=world. This story provides a fun way for parents to introduce their children to a crucial truth that reveals the deep human need for a Savior(scripture references: Isaiah 41:14, Psalm 22:6, John 3:16-19). Secondly, it can help kids understand why the truth can be uncomfortable, but that through faith the truth can set them free and give them a love for the light. Lastly, it teaches that faith is an adventure, and that we can expect great things as we step out of our comfort zone. Along with presenting a vital truth this story also invites children to join in with Wiggles on an adventure where they can act out parts like, “Are you ready? Let’s go! Wiggle up, wiggle down, and wiggle all around.” On a personal note, my 3 boys ages 4, 6, and 7 love to interact with Wiggles in this way!
