Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

A collector's edition on special paper and small print run. This is a long poem written by Sir Richard Burton, the English adventurer, soldier, scholar, translator. European Sabre champion he also fought in Africa and India. He knew many languages including Arabic, Persian, and Hindustani. Burton translated the Arabian Nights, the Kama Sutra, and the Erotic Writings of Shaykh Nefzawi. In the disguise of an Afghan he made the pilgrimage to Mecca and wrote a two volume description of his travels. This philosophical poem is inspired by the success of FitzGerald's translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam which it quotes twice. It claims to be a translation but is actually an original work by Burton expressing philosophical free thinking. It has Burton's own explanatory notes to the text. This is a collector's edition special printing in excellent condition.
