M. Montgomery, related to the Anne of Green Gables series. It features an abundance of stories relating to the fictional Canadian village of Avonlea, and was first published in 1912. The majority of stories, though, are about residents of Avonlea (and surrounding towns) who are never mentioned in the Anne novels. One reason for this is that most of the short stories in this volume were written and published by Montgomery in various magazines before Anne of Green Gables was even conceived.

  • Chronicles of Avonlea by L. M. Montgomery, Fiction, Classics, Family, Girls & Women

    L. M. Montgomery, Lucy Maud Montgomery

    Paperback (Aegypan, June 1, 2011)
L.M. Montgomery's Chronicles of Avonlea isn't a novel (as are the other volumes we have done in this series). It's a volume of short stories, like "The Hurrying of Ludovic," the tale of Theodora Dix's hurrying a too-thoughtful suitor to the altar, with the help of Anne Shirley; "Old Lady Lloyd," a proud and sad woman whose life has escaped her; "Little Joscelyn," who is a fine, fine singer . . . a dozen tales, all tolled. They've all got Montgomery's wit and her insight. If you are a fan of novels like Anne of Avonlea and Anne of Green Gables. You'll love these tales.

  • Chronicles of Avonlea Audiobook CD Set

    Lucy Maud Montgomery

Audio CD (St. Clare Audio, March 15, 2016)
5 Audio CD's - 6 Hours and 7 Minutes. A collection of 12 short stories by L.M. Montgomery famed author of the Anne of Green Gables Series. Chronicles of Avonlea features some of our favorite characters, but mostly highlights vignettes of other inhabitants of Avonlea, and the surrounding area. We meet some old friends and many new ones from "The Island" in stories both sweet and poignant. An old lady finds happiness in being a "fairy godmother" to a young music teacher; two lovers will not speak for fifteen years, but still love each other dearly; a woman-hater is quarantined with a man-hater; and other anecdotes of country town life are drawn by the delicate and sure hand of the beloved Montgomery. Stories include: "The Hurrying of Ludovic", "Aunt Olivia's Beau", "Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's", "Pa Sloane's Purchase", "The Miracle at Carmody", and more. A delightful read, and a welcome addition to the beloved tales of Avonlea! Our CDs are packaged in premium DVD cases with CD labeling printed right on the CD in full color. We do not use paper stick-on labels, these tend to peel off over time and can really jam up car CD players and computers. We chose to use DVD cases for our CD sets, as we have found they hold up better in shipping and in regular usage than the typical CD jewel case. Please note: All recordings we offer on CD are produced with recordings from Librivox, public domain works recorded by volunteers. We at St. Clare Audio would like to thank the volunteers for their gift of offering their work to the public domain. Also, being public domain works they are available for download at Librivox. St. Clare Audio's niche is providing them in ready-to-purchase CD sets, for those who cannot download, or have not the desire or time to do so, as well as the benefit of a nice case and professionally produced CDs. Lucy Maud Montgomery, 1stworld Library

Hardcover (1st World Library - Literary Society, June 15, 2007)
Anne Shirley was curled up on the window-seat of Theodora Dix's sitting-room one Saturday evening, looking dreamily afar at some fair starland beyond the hills of sunset. Anne was visiting for a fortnight of her vacation at Echo Lodge, where Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Irving were spending the summer, and she often ran over to the old Dix homestead to chat for awhile with Theodora. They had had their chat out, on this particular evening, and Anne was giving herself over to the delight of building an air-castle. She leaned her shapely head, with its braided coronet of dark red hair, against the window-casing, and her gray eyes were like the moonlight gleam of shadowy pools.
