    Jules Verne

Paperback (Book Jungle, Feb. 2, 2009)
Jules Verne was born in 1828 in France. His dream was to write a new kind of novel, which combined scientific fact with fiction. Verne eventually wrote 40 novels in his Voyages extraordinaires series. "What one man can imagine, another will someday be able to achieve." Is a quote from an article in the Encyclopedia Britannica that sums up Verne so well. The Survivors of the Chancellor is the diary of J R Kazallon a passenger on the ship. Kazallon booked passage on a cargo ship for his return trip to England. What he thought would be a charming way to travel ended up being an adventure with a crazy sea captain, storms, trouble in the hold, unbearable heat, sharks, and starvation. Kazallon doubted if any of them would survive

    Jules Verne

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Aug. 3, 2018)
Jules Gabriel Verne (February 8, 1828โ€“March 24, 1905) was a French author who pioneered the science-fiction genre. He is best known for novels such as Journey To The Center Of The Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of space travel had been devised. He is the third most translated author in the world, according to Index Translationum. Some of his books have been made into films. Verne, along with Hugo Gernsback and H. G. Wells, is often popularly referred to as the "Father of Science Fiction".

  • The Survivors of the Chancellor

    Jules Verne, Ellen E. Frewer

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, May 8, 2017)
But as yet we have not reached the open sea; we have still to thread our way through the narrow channels which the surge has hollowed out amongst the sand-banks. The captain takes a south-west course, rounding the lighthouse at the corner of the fort; the sails are closely trimmed; the last sandy point is safely coasted, and at length, at seven o'clock in the evening; we are out free upon the wide Atlantic. The "Chancellor" is a fine square-rigged three-master, of 900 tons burden, and belongs to the wealthy Liverpool firm of Laird Brothers. She is two years old, is sheathed and secured with copper, her decks being of teak, and the base of all her masts, except the mizzen, with all their fittings, being of iron. She is registered first class A I, and is now on her third voyage between Charleston and Liverpool.
