The prose, ‘The rat race’ is proverbial in nature where rats and man are used as symbolic illustrations by the author. It is a prose for the kids teaching them morals and behaviours of creatures through the illustrations. There was a contact between a rat living in the bush and those living in the house built by man. Man fears the rats for being vectors of diseases like lassa fever that kills victim within two weeks. Rats enjoyed living in the house of man to eat crumbs of foods. The usual buffet party in the home of man was what the rats loved most. How did the rat, Ben, living in the house convince the rat from the bush to change its environment? What happened at the new environment? What became the end result of the duo? Read the prose and use the morals.
