  • CHARLIE: The Brave Little Teddy Bear

    Amy Baird Middleton

Hardcover (Wren's Nest Productions LLC, April 9, 2017)
This is the heart-warming story of Charlie Riley, a loveable teddy bear who lives in the woods with his fanciful, adoptive parents, who happen to be trees. When Charlie notices that his mother's leaves are pale, he embarks on a journey to get tree vitamins. Amy Baird's delectable illustrations of Charlie and the group of gentle, but sometimes mischievous animals he meets along the way, lend excitement and vitality to a tale that shows children how easy and satisfying it is to think of others before themselves. Charlie Riley is a warm, uplifting story that celebrates courage, kindness, selflessness, and simply doing the right thing. It is an ode to goodness-- a story that will be read again and again.

  • Little Brown Teddy Bear

    Mrs. Herbert Strang

    Hardcover (Whitman Publishing Co., )
From Wikipedia: "Herbert Strang was the pseudonym of two English authors, George Herbert Ely (1866-1958) and Charles James L'Estrange (1867-1947). They specialized in writing adventure stories for boys. Both men were staff members of Oxford University Press, which published their books, giving them a patina of social status and approval for the parents of their intended audience.[1] Their work showed a broad general debt to that of Jules Verne;[2] Round the World in Seven Days was one of their most popular books. Ely and L'Estrange have been classified as "popular writers of imperial fiction" and "successors of G. A. Henty...."[3] The pseudonym was also employed for several series of anthologies, works "edited by Herbert Strang" that included The Big Book of School Stories for Boys and The Oxford Annual for Scouts. There was even a series for girls by "Mrs. Herbert Strang". Although there is no date, I suspect this was written between 1910 and 1915 judging by the clothing styles of the illustrations. This is one of the last remaining girls books. It has 719 on spine and is a lovely collection of short stories: Little Brown Teddy Bear, If They Knew, Too-Timid and His Little Clock, Wooden Soldiers in the Dark, Ten Tiny Mice, The Little White Road, The Story of Reginald Squirrel, Maurice's Garden, The Clever Swans, Round the Corner, The Pedlar Mouse, Prickles and the Woodland Path. All with illustrations.
