Excerpt from The Tower: A Novel Turning to the table she took up the field-glasses and hastily levelled them at the wide windows of the Tower rooms, below the arches. Surely there was some one moving inside! A woman in a mob cap came to the window and shook out a duster in the air. It was an intrusion, an unendurable in trusion! She swept her glass upward and was startled to find herself gazing into the face of a man who was leaning with his elbows on the stone balus trade, looking out over the garden and smoking tranquilly, as if he had a right to be there! There was something familiar in the poise of his head; his hand moved out slowly and she knew that he had flicked the ash from the tip of his cigar with his little finger. The color rushed to Miss Lang don's cheeks; she could not have seen at that dis tance; how was it, then, that she had been able to divine the exact turn of the hand, the quick motion of the finger, every detail that must have accom panied the vague movement which had caught her eye through the glass? Who can he be she murmured. He doesn't look young; it is not possible that some one is going to take the rooms again? • The Border

    Don Winslow, Ray Porter

Preloaded Digital Audio Player (Findaway World Llc, March 1, 2019)
The explosive, highly anticipated conclusion to the epic Cartel trilogy from the New York Times bestselling author of The ForceFor over forty years, Art Keller has been on the front lines of Americas longest conflict: the War on Drugs. His obsession to defeat the worlds most powerful, wealthy, and lethal kingpin—the godfather of the Sinaloa Cartel, Adán Barrera—has left him bloody and scarred, cost him people he loves, even taken a piece of his soul. Now Keller is elevated to the highest ranks of the DEA, only to find that in destroying one monster, he has created thirty more that are wreaking even more chaos and suffering in his beloved Mexico. But not just there. Barreras final legacy is the heroin epidemic scourging America. Throwing himself into the gap to stem the deadly flow, Keller finds himself surrounded by enemies—men that want to kill him, politicians that want to destroy him, and worse, the unimaginable—an incoming administration thats in bed with the very drug traffickers that Keller is trying to bring down. Art Keller is at war with not only the cartels, but with his own government. And the long fight has taught him more than he ever imagined. Now, he learns the final lesson—there are no borders. In a story that moves from deserts south of the border to Wall Street, from the slums of Guatemala to the marbled corridors of Washington, DC, Winslow follows a new generation of narcos, the cops that fight them, the street traffickers, the addicts, the politicians, money-launderers, real-estate moguls, and mere children fleeing the violence for the chance of a life in a new country. This last novel in Don Winslows magnificent, award-winning, internationally bestselling trilogy is packed with unforgettable, drawn-from-the-headlines scenes. Shocking in its brutality, raw in its humanity, The Border is an unflinching portrait of modern America, a story of—and for—our time.

  • UNDER THE AX: A Novel

    TOM GRID

    eBook (, Jan. 24, 2020)
"Under the Axe" is a terrible episode of Vendean cabbage. There is no shortage of interest, and the style is a scholarly colour, sometimes a blood colour, like the time he tells. There is in these pages a wild power that makes you shudder, admirable landscapes painted with a knife, you could say to the cleaver. I particularly remembered a fight that cabbages and blues engage in in a village church, and which recalls, by fever and movement, the famous fight of the cockroaches of the "Knight Of Touches".
