Paperback (HardPress Publishing, Aug. 1, 2012)
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

    W W. 1863-1943 Jacobs

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

    W. W. Jacobs

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, May 13, 2013)
Brilliantly satirical and cheer inducing short stories by the author of The Monkey's Paw. “I wish that one might enter the Jacobs world now and then, instead of going to Switzerland, or Scotland, or the other dull countries where one makes formal holiday….Tastes are bound to differ about the fourteen stories in Odd Craft, but my own favourites are, I think, ‘Admiral Peters’ and ‘Blundell’s Improvement.’ These are, perhaps, the most shapely of the comedies; but in almost every one there is a phrase or two of sly humour of the first Jacobean order…Mr. Jacobs may have touched a higher mark, but he is continuously amusing….Mr. Jacobs may be compared with another humorist who works in somewhat similar material – Dan Leno. No matter what his subject matter, however grimy, the ultimate impression that one receives is radiance.” -The Speaker, the Liberal Review, Volume 9, 1903 “These stories of sailors, bargemen and their jolly associates along shore safely may be guaranteed to dispel any kind of gloom. Mr. Jacobs again sails the seas of his early triumphs, and this volume is laden with nothing but comedy of that subtle, delightful variety that has placed this author at the very top of the list of short-story writers. He has a style and plan exclusively his own; there are no counterparts of the night watchman, Bob Pretty, Ginger Dick, Peter Russet or any of these jovial mariners who are so well known, and who have figured in so many laugh-provoking schemes. The author’s knowledge of sea-faring men seems inexhaustible.” -The Reader: An Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volumes 2-3, July, 1903 THE MONEY-BOX THE CASTAWAY BLUNDELL'S IMPROVEMENT BILL'S LAPSE LAWYER QUINCE BREAKING A SPELL ESTABLISHING RELATIONS THE CHANGING NUMBERS THE PERSECUTION OF BOB PRETTY DIXON'S RETURN A SPIRIT OF AVARICE THE THIRD STRING ODD CHARGES ADMIRAL PETERS

    Hardcover (Forgotten Books, )
Excerpt from Odd CraftIt ain't for the want of trying either with some of 'em, and I've known men do all sorts 0' things as soon as they was paid off, with a view to saving. I knew one man as used to keep all but a shilling or two in a belt next to 'is skin so that he couldn't get at it easy, but it was all no good. He was always running short in the most inconvenient places. I've seen 'im wriggle for five minutes right off, with a tramcar conductor standing over 'im and the other people in the tram reading their papers with one eye and watching him with the other.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
