Hunter is fascinated by dinosaurs, especially the Tyrannosaurus. One day, while visiting the museum with his father, he finds himself mystically transported back to the distant past. Not only this, but he has actually become his favorite dinosaur, and befriends an infant of the same species. Together, they explore the mysterious terrain, and Hunter is forced to protect the baby from larger, threatening predators. The tale concludes with the juvenile's mother returning to claim it, and the end of the age of the dinosaurs.

Author Connie Zakowski has added Book Four to her Mookie series with Mookie's Trip to the Zoo. Though zoos can be different, she hopes the animals she illustrated will remind children of their own trip to the zoo. For those children who have yet to visit a zoo this book will give them an idea of what to expect for a fun-filled day at the zoo. Children can look forward to the fifth book in Connie's series about Mookie the Monkey and Mikey. That book will be Mookie Gets Lost. Until then, Connie hopes children are enjoying her series so far.
