Excerpt from Peter KindredHe returned to school his second year with greater confidence. He had no group of friends to make joyous the tidying of his new quarters, but the school was his friend, the unchanging halls, the majestic trees, and the October wind. Small things made him welcome, the knowledge of places and events, familiar eating houses, the ability to accept old duties lightly, and to direct worried newcomers. He greeted more men than he had known before, and was greeted by them in turn; his friends of the last year were glad to see him. It seemed to him as though he could boast of some small place in Exeter, and he was comfortably aware that he had not come, but that he had returned.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
