Buster was a loyal and a loving pet. He was an English Shepherd dog who followed us all over the farm. If one of my older brothers drove a team of horses to do some work in one of the fields, Buster would go with him. He loved being with us and liked playing with us. My brothers and I liked to wrestle with him. He enjoyed it too. Sometimes my brother Richard or I would get down on the ground and hug Buster close to our bodies to try to see if we could keep him from getting free as the other person called him. He always freed himself by wriggling and pushing against us with his feet. He never snapped or bit us in the process.

Billy is the biggest third grader at Beamont Elementary School. He often bullies his classmates because he thinks that they are shorter, smaller, weaker and wimpier than he is. Billy soon faces a problem more troublesome than himself! Will Billy learn to play nicely and treat his peers with respect, or will he continue to be known as “Billy the Bully?”

Bullying is observed in all species unfortunately, many humans have perfected it as an art form. My intent is to prevent this type of aggressive intimidation as well as transform those who have been labeled a "Bully." There is hope. This book is written for anyone who has ever been bullied. Perhaps it may have been in school or on a playground, or in your neighborhood. It may have been through phone texting or emails. Yes, bullies come in all sizes and all ages. I've seen bullying behavior in preschool as well as elementary, and high schools. College is no exception nor is the work place. I also dedicate this book to anyone who has ever been labeled a "Bully." Yes, you read this correctly. Bullies are people too. I have discovered that they are natural leaders in need of structure, direction, and a healthy dose of self-confidence. This book provides the reader with the tools necessary to prevent bullying as well as reverse bullying behavior. Ten simple rules are designed to help any classroom, youth group, or organization to approach this sensitive topic. Why hummingbirds? Well that's easy. Hummingbirds are most definitely bullies. They are territorial, they fight with other's of their own species, and they can be mean when it comes to food sources. They are amazing to watch. While protecting their food supply, they dive bomb the others often bending their long and fragile beaks rendering them defenseless. Despite a large number of hummingbird feeders strategically placed in my yard, one very aggressive male became the main character of this story; "Billy the Bully."

Billy was the new kid at Bookman Elementary School. He was a bully and he wanted all the kids to know it. Billy looked like a bully. He walked around the school with a mean look on his face and clenched fists. He was always ready to fight. Everyone knew he was a troublemaker and usually stayed out of his way except Patrick. He seemed to run into Billy all the time, through no fault of his own. Billy picked on Patrick and all the kids laughed. Patrick didn't find it very funny. As a matter of fact, he was about to put a stop to this.
