  • The Christmas Bird

    Elizabeth K. Howell

eBook (Xulon Press, Jan. 29, 2020)
A difficult time for a family in the country brings about lessons in suffering and God’s love in author Elizabeth K. Howell’s new children’s book, The Christmas Bird. The Christmas Bird follows the adventures of a little bird when his tree home is hauled from the woods and placed inside a cozy cabin to become the family’s Christmas tree. The family had recently experienced adversity when their youngest child, Maggie, fell in the woods and lost her mobility. Many times past, Maggie had visited the forest and sang beautiful Christmas carols to her doll and a hidden audience of woodland animals. With no more visits from Maggie, the Christmas bird tries hard to fill the void by whistling the tunes he’d heard her sing. The family’s choice to have the Christmas bird’s tree as their Christmas tree allows the stowaway to witness decorating the Christmas tree and listen to Papa read the Nativity Story. Most of all, the family’s love and care for Maggie is a sight to behold. When Santa visits later that night, the bird learns that Santa’s gifts are good, but God’s gifts are better! Throughout the story, we learn that God loves all and has great plans for each of us, even tiny birds.

  • The Adventures of Cammy Lambie in The Place of the Big Blue Sky

    Mara-lee Stricker

Paperback (Xulon Press, Aug. 13, 2015)
"In this short story, you will see the tender heart of love and careful words of instruction of Mother. The law of kindness is on Mother's tongue. She demonstrates watchful protection over Cammy and Sammy as she daily is in their presence. Parents can easily relate the mother's heart, akin to the heart of Jesus as He is to His children. A wonderful and useful book. Had I had this book when my children were small, I certainly would have made use of it. I highly recommend this for all ages!" Patti Roberts- married homeschooling mother of seven with growing number of grandbabies. "Mara-lee has given us a tremendous gift. Christians throughout history have systematically taught the faith to their children. This practice of systematic training in a catechism has become largely neglected by the Church in the last generation. Mara-lee's hope is to bridge the gap between the old ways of training our kids up in solid doctrine, allowing them to wrestle with the deep things of God, and modern children's story telling. I hope many find her work to be a blessing to the spiritual life of their children and a warm treasure in their home during the intimate times as the family gathers." Pastor Jeff Durbin- married father of four, sought after for his debate skills and also the main host of ApologiaRadio.com "Mara-lee has peeked into a child's inquiring mind and has given solid answers to questions about how to hear and respond to God's voice. Children will love the way Cammy's Adventures introduces them to new experiences in their lives. This delightful book will be a great tool for opening up discussions both at home and in the classroom." Donna Lapp- married mother of 3, grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 10. She is also a retired elementary grade school teacher.
  • Small Town Roads

    L. B. Johnson

eBook (Xulon Press, Nov. 14, 2016)
READER'S FAVORITE 2017 GOLD WINNER for Fiction - Religious Theme.Small Town Roads is a Christian Coming of Age Story in Small Town America from the Amazon #1 Best Selling Author of "Saving Grace - A Story of Adoption" and "The Book of Barkley - Love and Life Through the Eyes of a Labrador Retriever". Let go of the life you wanted to get the one that you were meant for. With a recent college degree in Criminal Justice and big future dreams, rookie Law Enforcement Officer Rachel Raines is looking for a temporary place to hide a heart full of loss and a quieter police patrol than Chicago. The bequest of her late aunt's house out in rural Illinois seems like the perfect opportunity for both if she can survive the gigantic spiders, creaky plumbing, and inevitable challenges of being the rookie on a small town force. It's a place unlike any she has lived in - a tiny town with no coffee baristas, no night life, and one single restaurant that has a giant cow perched on the roof. It was not the life she had expected. Sometimes God has other plans for us. Down the street, her aunt's best friend, Evelyn Ahlgren, marks the passing of seasons and neighbors, long mired in her loneliness as a widow. When the young woman with scars of her own befriends her, they strike up an unlikely friendship across generations that just might help them both heal with a little help from heaven above. Written in both third person (Evelyn's view of life) and first person (Rachel keeping an online journal to track the events of each new day), words both humorous and breathtakingly lyrical, as these two vastly different generations bond, Small Town Roads is a beautifully told, heartwarming story. It is not just a story of life in rural America, it is finding the best in people, including ourselves, in the most unlikely of places.

  • A Warrior's Guide to THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD PART 1: Basic Training

    James A. Durham

eBook (Xulon Press, Feb. 26, 2012)
I am convinced that spiritual warfare is being waged on a much grander scale than we have previously imagined. Battle lines have been drawn and strongholds have been established. Unless we sharpen our skills at spiritual warfare and develop the spiritual gift of discernment to new heights, we will not be making a significant impact on the world or in stemming the tide of the enemy’s assault on us, our families, and our churches. Our ancient enemy, the devil, has declared war and is attacking relentlessly. In order to battle effectively, we must learn to judge the spirits, and always love the people.LIKE IT OR NOT WE ARE AT WAR! ARE YOU READY?And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Revelation 5:6)James Durham: After serving almost 30 years as an active duty army Chaplain, James retired at the rank of Colonel. Before and after his military service, he was a pastor and church planter for more than thirteen years. In 2010, James and his wife, Gloria, moved to Columbia, South Carolina in order to write books, teach seminars, and mentor many spiritual sons and daughters around the world. His current book writing projects are: “Beyond An Ancient Door; a Guidebook for Kingdom Carriers” and “100 Days with the Lord in Heaven.” James is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology; Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas with a Master’s degree in Theology, and the US Army Command and General Staff College.
