That time, however, had a consequence so favourable to his views, so gratifying to his heart, that he rejoiced he had never, by word or thought, grieved his Emily. Terrified--pale--dying in a manner with fear--she threw herself one evening into his arms, and whispered, that the child he then clasped to his bosom was not the only one it would be her misfortune to bring him." To all his soothing endearments, she-only cried out in agony--" How, how should she ever face her father?
