  • The Flying Saucers Are Real - MP3 CD Audiobook in CD jacket

    Donald E. Keyhoe, Roger Melin

    (MP3 Audiobook Classics, Jan. 1, 2015)
The Flying Saucers Are Real by Donald Keyhoe was a breakthrough bestseller that was the first serious attempt to investigate encounters between the human race and “unidentified flying objects”, commonly called “flying saucers”. The book is relatively short, but pulls together evidence gathered from newpapers, magazines, personal interviews, and Air Force records. The central contention is that the Air Force had been actively investigating encounters and maintaining a policy of secrecy until 1949, when a policy of gradual and cautious public disclosure was adopted. He further argued that the earth had been visited by extraterrestrials for two hundred years and that the explosion of the atomic bomb had prompted a sharp increase in visits. He speculated that the Air Force may have even attained and deployed some aspect of alien technology. Keyhoe, who also wrote mysteries and spy novels, wrote the book in dramatic narrative style reminiscent of 1940’s film noir and 1950’s television dramas. The book was published in 1950. The paperback edition by Fawcett sold for $0.25 and was a huge hit, selling over 500,000 copies.

Donald Keyhoe, Thomas Cassidy, New Saucerian

    Audible Audiobook (New Saucerian, )
The original book made into this audiobook is the first in-depth, authoritative look at the flying-saucer phenomenon and is considered to this day to be one of the best works on the subject ever made. It is an extremely well-researched work with facts that were documented, containing none of the disinformation and hype that has crept into the field over time. The author was a retired Marine Corps major who became an aviation writer and was therefore perfect for the job of researching and creating this work. Using his own knowledge and information from friends in the military, Keyhoe came to the conclusion that UFOs originate from outer space and the US military was engaged in a cover-up. He includes a number of documented cases where thousands of people witnessed strange objects in the sky, all at the same time and in various parts of the country. Eyewitnesses are interviewed, and much is done to show how and why the veil of government secrecy was enforced.
