Sayers, her eleventh (and last) featuring Lord Peter Wimsey. It is the fourth and last novel to feature Harriet Vane.
  • Busman's Honeymoon: Classic crime for Agatha Christie fans

    Sayers Dorothy L.

    language (, May 15, 2020)
The thirteenth book in Dorothy L Sayers' classic Lord Peter Wimsey series, introduced by crime writer Natasha Cooper - a must-read for fans of Agatha Christie's Poirot and Margery Allingham's Campion Mysteries. They plan to have a quiet country honeymoon. Then Lord Peter Wimsey and his bride Harriet Vane find the previous owner's body in the cellar.Set in a country village seething with secrets and snobbery, this is Dorothy L. Sayers' last full-length detective novel. Variously described as a love story with detective interruptions and a detective story with romantic interruptions, it lives up to both descriptions with style.'She brought to the detective novel originality, intelligence, energy and wit.' P. D. JamesReviewThis, is an interesting piece where you could categorize this novel as detective fiction with a love story part in it. Or a love story with a detective part to it. Both ways, it cool.A wonderful readThis is my fifth time of reading “Busman’s Honeymoon’ and for the fifth time I have lost myself in the brilliantly drawn characters.and scenes- Mr Puffett sweeping the chimney, poor little Miss Twitterton, Lord Peter’s mother - the Duchess & the indispensable Bunter. For those who have not read this book, I say, you have denied yourself hours of pleasure found in the world of Peter & Harriet Read it and enjoyGreat Story another Winner!I had heard of Dorothy L Sayers but had not read any of her books, Until I saw Sir Ian Carmicheal's rendering of Lord Peter Wimsey for the first time on YouTube & was taken by the portrayal! So I thought I would get this book to see what I thought! My opinion is very favourable! Great story great characters although a little slow in places apart from that very pleased!

“Busman’s Honeymoon has everything—mystery, comedy, love, and drama—all served up in Dorothy Sayers’s best style.” —New York TimesThe great Dorothy L. Sayers is considered by many to be the premier detective novelist of the Golden Age, and her dashing sleuth, Lord Peter Wimsey, one of mystery fiction’s most enduring and endearing protagonists. Acclaimed author Ruth Rendell has expressed her admiration for Sayers’s work, praising her “great fertility of invention, ingenuity, and wonderful eye for detail.” The fourth Dorothy L. Sayers classic to feature mystery writer Harriet Vane, Busman’s Honeymoon is now back in print with an introduction by Elizabeth George, herself a crime fiction master. Harriet and her love, Lord Peter, have finally tied the knot but begin their married life together on an expectedly sour note when a body is discovered in the cellar of their romantic country estate.
