  • Chris Goes to the Zoo

    Marc Gawley, Izzy Bean

Board book (Individualized Baby Books, Jan. 1, 2014)
This book puts Chris in the heart of the story. Whether Chris is your son, grandson, nephew or a family friend, he will love this book. Chris will see his name in the story interacting with the zoo animals on four of the pages, plus in twice pictures with his mother, though the way the book is illustrated his face is obscured, so he can recognize himself regardless of skin/hair color etc. This book has bright colors and lots of opportunities for interaction, and has been especially written with the help of a language expert. Learning activities incorporated into the book include: * Animal identification and naming - can you see a monkey? * Mimicking of animal sounds - what noise does an owl make? * Counting - how many lions can you see? * Letting your child 'lead' the reading - what can you see on this page? A portion of the profits from this book are donated to the Honeypot Children's Charity. Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support.

She hopes to see and learn about the Sun Bear, Zebra, Wild Boar, Giraffe, Camel, Bison, Parrots, Wolves, and Alligators. Cassie has read about the animals that live at the zoo, but she’s never actually seen them. Sadie, who is pixie size herself, laughs and helps Cassie put on her new sandals to go along with her yellow blouse and white shorts. While waiting for Cassie to gather the things she’s taking to the Zoo, Sadie pulls her long auburn hair into a ponytail and loads the car with their packed lunch of ham sandwiches, chips and soda. Cassie runs around the house grabbing her camera, making sure she has plenty of film and stuffs a notebook and pens into her backpack. Cassie plans to make a scrap book of all the animals that she sees today. Cassie is excited for her Zoo birthday adventure but is also a little sad. Unfortunately, Cassie’s dad, Rob, had to work.
