At a young age of 16, Leslie Crane went to New Jersey shore to accompany her sick Aunt Marcia, who was advised by her doctor to spent some time there for quiet relaxation and recovery. While Leslie basks in the serene beach in windy October, she finds herself very sad and has no friend who has the same age with her to talk with. She eventually finds and makes a new friend and soon after, they got themselves together in the middle of a strange mystery in a locked bungalow alongside. Augusta Huiell Seaman was an American writer of children's fictions. She is the author of more than 40 classical fiction and mystery books for elder children, which are mostly not anymore in print. She was born Augusta Curtiss Huiell in New York City, the daughter of the bookkeeper John Valentine Huiell and his third wife, Anna Curtiss. She completed her studies from Normal College, now Hunter College, in New York City and was a teacher in elementary school. After her marriage with Robert Seaman, she got the time to write children's fictions. She has only one child, Helen Roberta or Bobbie. She remarried after her husband died and lived in the Island Beach, New Jersey. She wrote several books while working in the local government in different positions.
