"A Wonder-Book for Girls and Boys" (1851) is a children's book within which Hawthorne rewrites various myths from Greek mythology. It includes the stories: "The Gorgon's Head", "The Golden Touch", "The Paradise of Children", "The Three Golden Apples", "The Miraculous Pitcher", and "The Chimæra". "Tanglewood Tales for Boys and Girls" (1853) is a sequel to the "Wonder-Book", and also contains re-written stories of Greek myths. It includes the stories: "Theseus and the Minotaur", "Antaeus and the Pygmies", "Dragon's Teeth", "Circe's Palace", and "Jason and the Golden Fleece". These classic and timeless stories make for ideal bedtime reading, and they are not to be missed by fans and collectors of Hawthorne's work.
