It's Christmastime on the ranch. At four o'clock in the morning, Slim Chance is jolted out of bed by the ringing of the phone. It's the sheriff's department. Slim has a hundred head of yearlings out on the highway.Loper and Sally May are gone, and Slim needs help. He calls the only human being on earth who might consider it a lark to be moving cattle in a snow storm: Miss Viola. Together, they drive the cattle five miles back to the ranch. Slim comes down with pneumonia and Viola has to drive him to the hospital. On the way, he awakens from a stupor and mumbles, "You know, Viola, me and you ought to get married sometime". Viola is stunned and tears stream down her face. Will the bachelor cowboy remember what he said, when he gets over his pneumonia? That's the Big Question.
