Steve Laible, Tom Piper, Addison Brinkley, Nancy Watson, Chase Howard Laible

Paperback (The Kodel Group, April 21, 2010)
Summary: A little boy who simply loves his bed and wishes he could take it everywhere he goes.Let the one page adventures begin...giggles and grins assured. (Ages 4-8) for this first book.Note: Wait a Minute! (Ages 4-10) is the next in the Stevie Tenderheart collection. A 2nd Edition of My Favorite Place to Be is also available and age appropriate for 4-10 as well. This is the first book in the Stevie Tenderheart collection. (A First Edition) This is a fresh and delightful bedtime story with a great message.Kids deserve to feel cozy, warm and safe at bedtime. Stevie Tenderheart ensures this. You can begin reading this bedtime story until they can. This is a story is meant to be read every night at bedtime. But only at bedtime...Bedtime has never been easier. Yawns occur because each word has been auditioned for the precise tone, pace, cadence, fun & joyful silliness. The author uses a wonderful cadence making it fun to read to your child. Let's be honest, reading the same book to your child, night after night, must be fun for you too. This particular bedtime story will put "you" and your children to sleep--it's that good! Many colorful animals with adorable faces fill the pages (monkeys, panda, deer, rabbit, fish, dogs, cat, lion, moose, goose and cow, etc.) all with happy smiles and bright faces. This is a fun book written by a new author who traded in his comic strip to write children's books. There are 20 beautiful, expressive illustrated pages that are married to this darling little story in a way that is cute, thoughtful and truly gentle in helping you put your children to bed. It is meant as a BEDTIME STORY not for general reading during the day. Nap times are okay. If done right, your little darlings should be yawning by page three; doing "exactly" what it was designed to do. ((ha)) No, it's NOT hypnosis or boring. It's rhyming and cadence, and kindness. That's what makes this author so unique. One parent reviewed it on Goodreads as the best children's author to come along since Dr. Seuss. Another, "Leave it to Beaver meets Dr. Seuss." Stevie takes his bed on many adventures which will captivate your children's imagination producing giggles and grins, winks and smiles. The illustrations are probably a little too good, making this story not so much of a page-turner as it is an adventure with so much to take in. Young eyes love the details and colors and the expressions of the Disneyesque animals and will remain fascinated on the page long after you've read the words.Fathers, it's never too late to read to your daughters...
  • Gorpā€™s Dreamā€¦. A tale of Diversity, Tolerance, and Love in Pumpernickel Park

Gorp as told to Sherri Chessen, Christy Moeller, Karla Olson

language (The Gorp Group, LLC, Feb. 13, 2014)
Bullying starts at an incredibly early age......and often leads to dangerous results as the news bears out every day. Gorpā€™s Dream very gently shows our kids how kindness is contagious and can help create a safer environment for all. The art and text are age-appropriate and a joy even for adults to read and heed. ā€œBooks not Bombsā€, as one Purple Heart Vet told me.Teachers, librarians, churches, police departments, parents everywhere, and the National Education Association have used this book to teach lessons of kindness and to try to eliminate the development of bullying. As itā€™s easier to train a toddler than to re-train a troubled teen, the book has been lauded for its ability to instill these delicate and hard-to-teach lessons in even our youngest children. Simply put, they love Gorp and seem to readily absorb his life-saving teachings. As cartoonist Bil Keane wrote, ā€œWhenever I read Gorpā€™s Dream, the air seems to be filled with love. Six thumbs up from all of us in the Family Circus!ā€Available as a Kindle eBook and as a print book with library binding. Also available is a companion 48-page Teacher's Guide, prepared by Tracy Atwell, M.Ed.Scroll up and order your copies today.

  • Missing the Fruit for the Ladder

    Matt Keene, Chris Metzner

eBook (The Keene Group LLC, Dec. 18, 2012)
Missing the Fruit for the Ladder is a childrenā€™s book about growing up and forgetting and remembering what is important along the way. In the story, a wandering boy takes a seat on a hillside and notices a tree sapling sprouting nearby. As the tree grows, it begins to bear fruit. The boy is hungry, but he realizes that the fruit is beyond his reach so he begins building a ladder. As he works, he becomes focused on the ladder, forgetting his hunger and the fruit and the ladderā€™s purpose. Though the ladder grows bigger and stronger, the boy becomes so busy with his work he does not notice that he is sick and that it is getting darker and colder. His complete focus on the ladder distracts him from the fruit all around him and the sunā€™s warmth just beyond the shadows. Not until he is unexpectedly jolted from his busy stupor does the boy begin to see things more clearly. With his eyes opening, he becomes aware of himself and the tree and he begins to care for both. As their health improves, he sees and understands more of himself and his surroundings and realizes that all alongā€¦heā€™s been missing the fruit for the ladder.
  • Growing Up With Princess Lizzy and Her Friends

    Gma Mary Adkinson

language (The RMA Group, LLC, Feb. 23, 2013)
Princess Lizzy and her friends head off on more adventures and are learning little life lessons as they go. Lizzy is a young girl with a big heart and a bigger smile. She learns about being a good friend, how to handle an emergency, sharing with others less fortunate, how to talk to a deaf man, and even visits a real farm. The lessons learned along the way are presented in a kind, loving, and humorous way. Originally created for one of my granddaughters, I was urged to share these stories with other young people and those young at heart. Here they areā€¦..hope you enjoy!Lizzy is the new role model for 2013.Princess Lizzy is becoming a house hold name and childā€™s favorite with its family value charm. Your childā€™s eyes will light up as they follow Lizzy on her real life adventures. Children will enjoy Princess Lizzy's childlike demeanor as well as the colorful pictorials that help them follow along with her wholesome adventures as they grow up together. ~Heather Henley, mother and grandmotherI was a First Reads winner with this book, and I was so excited to get this in the mail. My daughter is 3 and she loves being read to. I liked that the little girl, Lizzy was simple looking, something kids will love with the shapes that make her. My daughter was drawn into Lizzy and enjoyed having this read to her. The real issues being dealt with in the book were simple yet so meaningful at the same time. If it's kindness, learning about life, death, working towards a goal, even wondering where sugar cookie crumbs go after they fall, this book is very sweet. I wish it had a few more stories, because we loved it so much. My family can't wait until the next book! ~Stephanie Larison, mother and avid readerI approached this book with some trepidation as I was unsure how I could handle reading something meant for little children. However, when the first story brought a tear to my eye, I knew that this was one worth reading. Each story, teaches a lesson, is well constructed, and obviously well thought out. From Lizzy realizing that there are others out there in greater need than herself to Lizzy learning how to accept the loss of a loved one, these are tales to capture the imagination of the very young, and perhaps give food for thought to the very old. The book is beautifully illustrated, and each story is short enough not to lose the childā€™s attention. I cannot recommend it enough. I would give it five stars.~Robert A.V. Jacobs, Author of the 'Daisy Weal' series of books for Children from 10 to infinity.

  • The Integration: A Triumphant Journey of Trials and Errors

    Swarna B Shah MD

(The DP Group, LLC, July 24, 2018)
The book shines the light on how to weave the old with the new to create a new lifestyle and culture that creates harmony! This book is not a memoir, though the author does relate a great deal about her life. It is not a self-help book, though she wants others to see that there are ways to improve how we maneuver through life. It is not a ā€œhow toā€ book for an immigrant coming to America, though she offers many insights on how to relish being part of a new country without giving up your identity. At its heart, this book is a guide regarding certain concepts to make the journey through life a little easier in order to realize your dreams, desires, and goals. That is what makes lifeā€™s journey so unique; it is different for everyone.
