Bullying can occur in any context in which human beings interact with each other. This includes school, church, family, the workplace, home, and neighborhood. Bullying is an act of repeated aggressive behavior in order to intentionally hurt another person, physically or mentally. Bullying is characterized as an individual behaving in a certain way to gain power over another person. Bullying behavior can include teasing, shoving, hitting, excluding, or gossiping about someone, as well as insulting someone (particularly about their physical appearance or other personal traits such as religion, race, intelligence, or physical abilities). Bullying can cause a victim to feel upset, afraid, ashamed, embarrassed, and anxious about going to school. It can involve children of any age, including younger elementary grade schoolers and even kindergartners. Bullying behavior is frequently repeated unless there is intervention. This is one of the most problematic issues facing our society today. Morgan has written and illustrated this book about Rosie, a little girl who likes to brag about her good traits and in doing so, makes others feel belittled and bad about themselves. But, when her parents confront her about her attitude, she realizes how she hurt her classmates and vows to make it right with them. Don t Be A Bully covers many different emotions as it brings the characters through the hurt of bullying into the realm of forgiveness and acceptance of others who are different than you. Rosie learns it s better to be a friend."
