Nearer, My God, to Thee
Sarah F. Adams

(Forgotten Books, Feb. 1, 2019)
Excerpt from Nearer, My God, to TheeContributed it (with others) to a small colleetion made for a chapel in London. A copy of this collection found its way to Pittsburg, Pa., and Dr. Clarke took Nearer, My God, to Thee for the Service Book. From this it was taken for the Plymouth Collection, and in a short time was added to nearly all hymnbooks. It is sung to the tune of Bethany, not only in the churches of England and America, but on the continent of Europe and at all missionary stations, for there is not a language into which it has not been translated. Mrs. Adams did not live to see its popularity, dying of consumption a few years after writing it.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
