  • The Story of the Treasure Seekers

    E. Nesbit, Peter Glassman

Hardcover (Chronicle Books, June 22, 2006)
"This is the story of the different ways we looked for treasure..." When their mother dies and their father's business partner runs off with most of their money, the six intrepid Bastable children are determined to restore their family's fallen fortunes. These resourceful children squabble, make up, and have many memorable adventures, from publishing their own newspaper to foiling a pair of real bandits and even becoming kidnappers themselves. But while the efforts of the Bastables are often ingenious, their good intentions always go hilariously awry. This lively, funny story perfectly captures these children's remarkable bravery and deep sense of honor. First published in 1899, this children's classic is available again for a new generation of readers with a magnificent cover illustration by Caldecott winner Paul O. Zelinsky.

  • The Story of the Treasure Seekers Audiobook CD Set

    E. Nesbit

Audio CD (St. Clare Audio, March 15, 2016)
4 Audio CD's - 4 Hours and 5 Minutes. The Story of the Treasure Seekers tells of the entertaining adventures and frequent mishaps of the six Bastable children, Dora, Oswald, Dicky, Alice, Noel, and Horace Octavius (H. O.) and their attempts to assist their widowed father and "restore the fortunes of their fallen house" . The children are delightfully imaginative, well-read, well-spoken, thoughtful under the natural childish self-centeredness, and self-sufficient. There is an innocence and genuine decency to their interactions, and a true sibling comradery (they unequivocally accept and allow for each other's differences/quirks), that is missing in our society and literature so much today. The various schemes the children try are clever, touching, and funny, and often end in mishap. Readers will laugh along at the humorous events, cry along at the sad moments, and enjoy the wholesome goodness of a classic written in a more genteel era. Our CDs are packaged in premium DVD cases with CD labeling printed right on the CD in full color. We do not use paper stick-on labels, these tend to peel off over time and can really jam up car CD players and computers. We chose to use DVD cases for our CD sets, as we have found they hold up better in shipping and in regular usage than the typical CD jewel case. Please note: All recordings we offer on CD are produced with recordings from Librivox, public domain works recorded by volunteers. We at St. Clare Audio would like to thank the volunteers for their gift of offering their work to the public domain. St. Clare Audio's niche is providing them in ready-to-purchase CD sets, for those who cannot download, or have not the desire or time to do so, as well as the benefit of a nice case and professionally produced CDs. The Story of the Treasure Seekers Audiobook is read by Karen Savage.
