  • The Pilgrim of a Smile

    Norman Davey

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, Nov. 17, 2015)
About the Book Within Christianity, worship is reverent honor and homage that is paid to God. Throughout Christianity's history, communal Christian worship has been liturgical, with by prayers, hymns, and texts rooted in Scripture, particularly the Psalter. Sacramental and ceremonial worship continues to be practiced by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Anglican churches, as well as by several Protestant denominations including Lutherans and Methodists. On the other hand, within Evangelism, worship is viewed more as an act of adoration of God, with a more informal, spontaneous framework. Also in this Book Monasticism is a religious way of life in which a person renounces worldly pursuits to devote themselves completely to a celebration of spirituality. Monasticism is important in many Christian churches, especially in Catholic and Orthodox traditions. There are similar forms of religious life in other faiths, for example, in Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. In some other religions monasticism is shunned, as in Islam and Zoroastrianism, or is marginal, as in Judaism. And in this Book Prayer is an act seeking to engage with an object of worship, generally a deity, in direct and deliberate communication. Prayers take a variety of forms, as part of a set liturgy or ritual, in solitude, or in a community or group. Prayers may be performed as hymn, incantations, formal creedal statement, or as unscripted spontaneous utterances. In some cases prayers call for acts intercession from a deity, or a deified ancestor, or, prayers can be said to give thanks or praise.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades.
