Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, July 23, 2015)
About the Book Books on Jewish history describe the history of the Jews, their religion and culture. Judaism as a religion first appears in Greek records (323 BC – 31 BC), religious literature relates the story of Israelites going back to c. 1500 BC. The first Jewish diaspora was due to the Assyrian conquest and continued on a bigger scale with the Babylonian conquest. Jews lived throughout the Roman Empire. In 638 CE the Arab Islamic Empire under Caliph Omar conquered Jerusalem. During the Middle Ages there was a Golden Age of Jewish culture in Spain that coincided with Muslim rule. In the 18th century Jews began to campaign for emancipation from restrictive laws, and integration into the wider European society, and began a movement for immigration back to Israel and the re-establishment of a Jewish national homeland. The Zionist movement was founded officially in 1897, while Jews in Europe and the United States gained success in the fields of science, culture and the economy, and produced a disproportionate number of Nobel Prize winners. The coming to power of Adolph Hitler in Germany in 1933 was a disaster for European Jewry, resulting in the systematic murder of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust (Shoah in Hebrew). From 1949 the State of Israel has accepted many Jews from around the world. Also in this Book Judaism is the religion of the Jewish people. An ancient, monotheistic, Abrahamic religion, it has the Torah as its fundamental text. Embracing the religion, philosophy, and culture of the Jewish people, Judaism is considered by religious Jews to be the expression of a direct covenant that God has established with the Children of Israel.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. Our Little English Cousin CHAPTER I. EDITH'S HOME ON THE THAMES "NOW it is really time to get ready, is it not, Miss Green?" exclaimed Edith, looking up at the clock for the twentieth time during the last half-hour, and breaking off in the middle of the list of English kings and queens which she was trying to commit to memory. Which king came after Henry III., in that far-away time, seemed a small matter compared to the outing which she and her governess had planned to enjoy on the river that lovely afternoon. Miss Green smiled indulgently as she closed her book. "It does seem a shame to remain indoors a moment longer than one can help such a day as this. Well, I will see Betty about the tea-things and pack them in the basket while you are getting ready." You may imagine it did not take Edith long to put away her books; then giving her good-natured governess a hug she skipped off for her hat and coat.

Paperback (Independently published, Sept. 16, 2018)
You have often heard people speak of the Emerald Isle. When you have asked where it is and why it is so called, you have been told it is only another name for that small island to the northwest of the continent of Europe called Ireland. The rains there fall so often, and the sun shines so warmly afterward, that Mother Nature is able to dress herself in the brightest and loveliest of colours. The people there are cheerful and good-natured. They are always ready to smile through their tears and see the funny side of every hardship. And, alas! many things have happened to cause their tears to flow. They have suffered from poverty and hunger. Thousands of them have been forced to leave parents and friends, and seek a living within the kindly shores of America. America is great, America is kind, they may think, but oh! for one look at the beautiful lakes of Killarney; oh! for a walk over the green fields and hills of the Emerald Isle. And oh! for the chance to gather a cluster of shamrock, the emblem of dear old Erin.
