    A young boy named Tilo wanders into a mountain village that appears to be deserted. He learns that the residents are hiding indoors from a ferocious dragon who lives in a cave at the top of the mountain. As Tilo meets the quirky villagers, he learns more about the dragon and some interesting lessons. Three brothers who refuse to take turns end up cooking a disgusting mixture of tomato soup, fish and scrambled eggs in their single pot. An old woman does not believe in rules hosts a children’s birthday party; her house is vandalized and most of her party guests have injured themselves. An energetic girl lives in a cottage that is missing half a roof, a few steps, and one window because she starts projects but never finishes them. The villagers all describe a terrible man-eating dragon, but nobody has actually seen the dragon eat a person. Even more curious, although the dragon is rumored to have eaten up to a hundred people, none of the villagers are missing. Tilo comes to believe that the dragon is a rumor. Tilo journeys to the top of the mountain to investigate, and find what is really terrorizing the town.
