Edward Richard Shaw was an American Professor and Dean in New York University, and a writer of a number of books, primarily young folks’ educational school books. Edward Richard was born in 1855 at Bellport, New York which is a part of Long Island. His collegiate studies was at Lafayette College, and he earned his Ph.D. from New York University. After becoming a Principal at Sayville, New York; Greenport, Suffolk County, New York; and Yonkers or NY High School, he became a Professor of Pedagogy in the New York University. He was Dean, from the moment he died. A few of his literary arts contained popular works edited for use by children who go to school. Such books include Black Beauty and Joshua Slocum's Sailing alone around the world.
