Annabel Sullivan is not like other 11-year-old girls. She is wiser than most, and can sense when people around her are going to die soon. After the death of her little brother, her family moves to the suburbs, where Annabel befriends Shaun and Mary. Annabel must deal with the superficiality of the suburbs, her dysfunctional family, an estranged uncle, a middle school bully, and her uncanny ability to predict death. When Annabel senses that two of her neighbors are going to die soon, Annabel takes it upon herself to outsmart death.
