Educated under duress in England, Tripoli Libya, Scotland and Kenya. He joined the army in 1962 and became a civilian again in 1977. Having tried to make a fresh start, he finally settled for and thoroughly enjoyed his time as a self-employed window cleaner and member of The National Federation of Master Window Cleaners.
